  1. The 2nd Regional Preparatory Meeting for the IGF (later counted as LACIGF 2) met on 11-13 August 2009 at the Novo Mundo Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil \u2014 the first three-day edition, organised by NUPEF\/RITS, APC and LACNIC.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Beyond the two key topics of access and security-and-privacy, the region singled out local content, multilingualism and multiculturalism, and freedom of expression as its most important concerns, feeding them into the 4th global IGF in Sharm el-Sheikh that November.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. The host was Brazil \u2014 which had staged the global IGF in 2007 and that same year adopted CGI.br's ten principles for internet governance \u2014 a showcase of how a multistakeholder pioneer nurtured the regional dialogue.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
