  1. The first Arab Internet Governance Forum met in Kuwait on 9\u201311 October 2012: over 300 multistakeholder participants under the theme "A Better Internet for a Better Arab World," within the joint framework of UN ESCWA and the League of Arab States.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Debate ran along four axes \u2014 access and critical Internet resources, international and national policies, security and privacy, and youth \u2014 with an Arab MAG and a secretariat at Egypt's NTRA modelled on the global IGF, launching a first four-year mandate (2012\u20132015).<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. It is a textbook case of how a region builds its own Internet-policy dialogue, and the starting point for understanding the Arab IGF's later trajectory.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
